The Story of Fill the Boot

The Story of Fill the Boot Many of you have never heard the names Butch Snyder and Jim Grigsby. They weren't movie stars, or writers or musicians or the heads of industry. They were firefighters. And while their names may not be familiar, their legacy lives on every year because of an idea they had back in 1954. In that year, Butch and Jim, along with a group of Nevada Firefighters, decided that they wanted to do something good for Jerry's kids. So they grabbed their work boots and headed out into the community with the hope that people would fill those boots with money. The people did, and they haven't stopped. Since that humble beginning in 1954 firefighters' boots have overflowed with coin and cash totaling more than $145 million dollars! Fill the Boot has grown into one of MDA's biggest fund raisers. The money collected over the past forty-four years has funded breakthrough research, clinics, Summer Camp, and medical equipment for thousands and thousands of kids and adults. But, Fill the Boot is not just about ho0e for people with neuromuscular disease, it is about remembering. In a sad twist of irony, both Butch Snyder and Jim Grigsby, two of the Nevada Firefighters who took those first boots out in 1954, themselves succumbed to neuromuscular disease and died early deaths. The story of Fill the Boot is not a sad one, however. It is a story that celebrates life. It is a story that tells us about the spirit of human caring. It is a story that tells us how a few people can challenge anything, even a disease, if they have the generosity of hear, like that of a firefighter.

Learn the facts!

Subject: Learn the facts!

Learn these facts to properly debateour poor misguided friends &family before election time !!!

There were 39 combat related killingsin Iraq during the month of January.....In the fair city of Detroit there were35 murders in the month of January.

That's just one American city, about as deadly as the entire war torn country of Iraq.

When some claim President Bush shouldn'thave started this war, state the following:

FDR...led us into World War II.Germany never attacked us: Japan did. From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost,an average of 112,500 per year.

Truman...finished that war and started one in Korea,North Korea never attacked us.From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost,an average of 18,334 per year.

John F. Kennedy...started the Vietnam conflict in 1962.Vietnam never attacked us.

Johnson...turned Vietnam into a quagmire.From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost,an average of 5,800 per year.

Clinton...went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent,Bosnia never attacked us.He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platterthree times by Sudan and did nothing.Osama has attacked us on multiple occasions.

In the two years since terrorists attacked us
President Bush has ...
liberated two countries,
crushed the Taliban,
crippled al-Qaida,
put nuclear inspectors in Libya,Iran and North Koreawithout firing a shot,
and captured a terrorist who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people.

The Democrats are complainingabout how long the war is taking, but...It took less time to take Iraqthan it took Janet Reno to take theBranch Davidian compound. That was a 51 day operation.

We've been looking for evidence ofchemical weapons in Iraq for less time than it took Hillary Clinton to find the Rose Law Firm billing records.

It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Divisionand the Marines to destroy the MedinaRepublican Guard than it took Ted Kennedy tocall the police after his Oldsmobilesank at Chappaquiddick.

It took less time to take Iraq than it tookto count the votes in Florida!!!!

Our Commander-In-Chief is doing a GREAT JOB!
The Military moral is high!

The biased media hopes we are too ignorant to realize the facts.

PASS IT ON.

VIVA LA FRENCH

During a raging battle, French soldiers captured a British officer. One soldier sneered and asked, "Why do you British officers wear red coats? Don't you know it's easier to see you and target you in a gun fight?"

The officer replied, "We wear red coats so that the soldiers we lead will not see blood and lose heart when we are wounded."

The Frenchman thought about this and passed the story on to his commanding officers. They were impressed and saw the logic in what the officer said. And that is why, to this very day, French officers wear brown pants in battle.
